Human learning and practice effects

The details of the mechanisms that allow humans to learn materials during training is of interest to scientists and educators alike. We ask how different methods of training affect retention and forgetting of learned materials. We have looked at manipulations of feedback, practice, spacing and testing with a variety of materials. Findings from our research have both substantial theoretical implications about the cognitive mechanisms behind memory encoding and retrieval, as well as practical applications for the education system and other training programs.
